Federal Judge Calls ‘On the Jury Trial’ a ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ 

U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Kendall of Illinois has read plenty of books on the law in her career, but writing in 2018 for Law360, she called “On the Jury Trial” a “concise little trial manual,” one that gets into each stage of trial, from opening statement through closing argument. Judge Kendall praised the authors for not just providing advice on best practices in the courtroom, but for also stating the reasons for their guidance. She also noted the many examples the book uses – drawn from actual trial transcripts – of trial lawyers in action and commended the authors for their “thoughtful strategic thinking over mimicry” in suggesting how lawyers can apply the lessons they illustrate in their own cases.
